Fusion: Contemporary Art Glass

Friday, May 2 to Sunday May 18

 

            The Oysterponds Historical Society will host an exhibition by Orient artist and resident Yan Rieger entitled Fusion: Contemporary Art Glass from Friday, May 2 to Sunday, May 18 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm.

The exhibition will feature the artist’s colorful collection of fused art glass created in 2007.

   The artistic art glass panels are small colorful abstract compositions. decorative and complementary to an interior, attractive in an intimate setting.  The designs are architectural, yet subtle and complex in quiet details, its many layers revealing a richness of color and texture as well as infinite shapes and meditative forms.

Yan Rieger was born and raised in Germany, attended art-school in Poland, studied art & design in Paris France, and has been living in the US since 1961 and Orient for over 35 years.

After years of studying art around Europe, he spent two years as an interior designer for Doig Bernardini Studios in NYC and then five years as Senior Designer and project manager at the Rambusch Decorating Company in NYC, where he designed interiors and art work for many cathedrals, churches and civic centers throughout America.  In 1968 he partnered with renowned artists Jonynas and Shepherd. In 1971 established an art & design studio in collaboration with wife Françoise completing many successful commissions.
